What is "Ayurveda"?

Most of us know of the benefits of regular yoga practice, but what is "Ayurveda"?

It is the naturopathic health system of ancient India that was established by the same great sages who produced Yoga.

Together they form a powerful path to self-healing and self realization.

During this restorative health retreat you will enjoy daily massage from the Ayurvedic system known as 'Panchakarma' therapy. These massage techniques follow the body's pathways where Ayurveda considers the vital energy force (ojas) flows. The massage techniques, with warm herbal infused oils, can relieve blockages from these pathways that may be underlying dis-ease conditions or emotional imbalance.

You will meet our highly qualified Ayurvedic doctor from South India, Dr Sujatha Kekada (B.A.M.S. – India) who will assess your health condition and prescribe a treatment plan of therapeutic massage, diet, detox treatments and herbal remedies.

As diet is a major component of Ayurvedic healing, meals are personally planned by Dr Sujatha to suit your health requirements, using local and organically grown ingredients.

The daily yoga programme is gentle and restorative. Therapeutic yogic techniques are selected to complement the Ayurvedic cleansing processes and promote healing at the deepest level of our being – physically, mentally and emotionally.
